2024 Blockers Chardonnay
Named in honour of founder Eric Brand, one of the original ‘Blockers’ (landholders who sold their grapes to larger wineries in the 1950s and 60s). The wines have developed a reputation for expressing bold Coonawarra fruit flavours and delivering a powerful, yet elegant style. Another strong vintage for Coonawarra in 2022. Stable weather conditions resulted in high quality fruit with moderate to good yields. Favourable climatic conditions allowed the fruit to be picked at optimum levels for ripeness and flavour.
WINEMAKERS NOTES
Pale straw in colour, this wine opens with a complex nose of bright citrus fruit layered with subtle hints of flint, alongside toasty, bready and nutty notes. The palate is luscious and textural, revealing creamy, toasty characters balanced by refreshing, vibrant acidity. A taut acid line carries through to a persistent finish, leaving you reaching for another glass.
