Whilst Cabernet Sauvignon is the most widely planted grape variety in the world, it is universally accepted that the climate and soil – or terroir – have a profound effect on the character of the wine.

COONAWARRA WINERIES WALKING TRAIL SUPER QUIZ

Pop on your walking shoes, slip on your Fitbit and “Walk the Vine to Wine” on the Coonawarra Wineries Walking Trail during October.

Collect a copy of the Winery Walking Trail SUPER Quiz at any of the participating venues listed below and follow the GREEN FOOT leading you to your next destination! Visit at least 5 of the 7 venues to find the quiz solutions needed to complete 10 of the questions.

Leave your completed form with the 5th venue visited and go into the draw to win a mixed dozen wines and other Coonawarra goodies from each of the participating Walking Trail venues.

Annual Burgers & Beats Festival

Burgers & Beats Festival makes its annual return to Brand's Laira this October for the Coonawarra Cabernet Celebrations! 

Join us at our Cellar Door for a wonderful day filled with an outdoor wine bar with all the very best wines Brand's  Laira have to offer. Indulge in delicous gourmet burgers & desserts made from local produce by our friends at 'Say Grace Cafe'. Then take a seat or set down on a picnic rug on our lawns and chill out to the cool beats from  'Quietly Krazy!' and watch the hours roll on by. 

Dancing and good time laughs are certainly encouraged! 

This is a kid friendly event, so mark it in your calendar and get you friends and family ready for day of great food, great music and great wines.

Brand’s Laira & Black Star Pastry create ‘Cherrymisu’ Dessert

Brand’s Laira Wine and Black Star Pastry have collaborated on what is the ultimate wine dessert!

We present the Limited Edition ‘Cherrymisu’ Dessert. The ‘Cherrymisu’ has been created to celebrate the opening weekend of Good Food Month Sydney Night Noodle Markets. 

Friday 29th September 2017, Sydney - Cult Sydney bakery Black Star Pastry has collaborated with iconic Coonawarra winery, Brand’s Laira, to create a limited edition dessert to celebrate the opening of Sydney Night Noodle Markets.

Inspired by the flavours of Brand’s Laira 2014 Blockers Cabernet Sauvignon wine, the indulgent multi-layered dessert is a modern take on the traditional tiramisu. Created by Black Star Pastry’s Executive Chef, Samuel Yeo, the dessert features layers of deliciousness that represent the rich red earth and layered soils the Coonawarra region is famous for. Samuel Yeo describes what dessert lovers will experience when they dip their spoon in; 

“As you work your way through the layers you’ll uncover flavours inspired by the flavour notes of the wine; Brand’s Laira Blockers Cabernet Sauvignon infused mulled wine jelly, a sour cherry compote, whipped vanilla mascarpone, gingerbread sponge and hidden within it pieces of grated dark chocolate.”

Sam explains; “We wanted to have a bit of fun with the concept so I decided to make a ship out of Valrhona Orelys chocolate as a take on the iconic Brand’s Laira logo. Each Cherrymisu dessert will have a handmade chocolate ship on top of it that brings an added texture to the overall dessert.”

For two days only, the first 100 people to purchase a glass of Brand’s Laira Blockers Cabernet Sauvignon from the Brand’s Laira Cellar Door at Night Noodle Markets in Hyde Park will be lucky enough to receive a sample of this decadent delight.

Details: Brand’s Laira X Black Star Pastry Cherrymisu desserts will be available to the first 100 consumers to purchase a glass of Brand’s Laira Blockers Cabernet Sauvignon from the Brand’s Laira Cellar Door on two selected nights.

Dates: Saturday 7th October and Sunday 8th October 2017.

Location: Brand’s Laira Cellar Door, Hyde Park

One dessert redeemable per transaction on a first come first served basis.  All consumers must be over 18 and provide ID at the time of purchase.

Brand’s Laira voted 5 Star Winery

The highly anticipated release of the 2018 James Halliday Wine Companion book has seen Brand’s Laira achieve some great results.  

Brand’s Laira has been awarded 5 stars for ‘Best wineries of the region’ – and has had a consistent record of excellence for at least the past three years.

From our core range, the 2014 Blockers Cabernet Sauvignon has been awarded 94 points with James Halliday Wine Companion boasting [Brand's Laira 2014 Blockers Cabernet Sauvignon] ; 

24+ year old vines, machine-harvested, a mix of open and roto-fermenters with cultured yeast, 7 days on skins, 85% postferment maceration for 5 weeks, matured for 19 months in 85% French and 15% American oak (35% new). The structure and texture reflect the steps in the vinification, with fine-grained tannins in a support role for the blackcurrant fruit, which was picked at the right time.

The taste of Coonawarra in Brisbane

Good Food Month is making its way around the country and following successful events in Canberra and Perth earlier this year, the much anticipated event landed in Brisbane.

Brisbane Good Food Month kicked off at the beginning of July with the Night Noodle Markets taking place from July 19th – 30th at the Cultural Food Court in Southbank.

It was the perfect location to unveil the much anticipated pop-up Cellar Door created to bring the best of Coonawarra to Brisbane’s wine and food lovers.

The opening night was hosted by  Brand’s Laira Chief Winemaker Peter Weinberg.  The space was the perfect place to soak up the atmosphere whilst sipping and savouring the flavours of Brand’s Laira alongside an exciting array of Asian cuisine and special entertainment.

The Brand’s Laira pop-up Cellar Door hosted Brisbane’s finest food and wine bloggers, writers, photographers and social influencers all excited to bask in the atmosphere and flavours of the Coonawarra.

Next Stop – Sydney.

We see the Sydney Night Noodle Markets hit Hyde Park from October 5-22nd.

Exclusive wine partner for Good Food Month announced

In an exciting announcement for Brand’s Laira we are very proud to announce we are the official Wine Partner for Good Food Month for the next three years!

The partnership with Good Food Month is a wonderful opportunity for Brand’s Laira to bring ‘Coonawarra to the people’ as part of Australia’s largest and only truly national food and wine festival.

With over 1,000 events across five cities (Brisbane/Sydney/Melbourne/Perth/Canberra) annually, it’s an enticing program of food and drink events featuring Australia's best chefs, restaurants, wine experts and food producers.

The first of this amazing series was held at the Brisbane Night Noodle Markets in July at the Cultural Food Court in Southbank.

This was the first time the Brand’s Laira pop-up Cellar Door was unveiled. It truly was bringing ‘Coonawarra to the people’.
